Introduction

These are general instructions to provide guidance about the process to create an Oracle Spatial database for use with Bentley OpenUtilities Designer. The process assumes that the data model is the reference data or that the data model has been customized and well tested in a DGN persistence mode.

Required skills

The Bentley OpenUtilities Designer Administrator will be working with Oracle and therefore should have Oracle administrator access to the database and should have some Oracle administrator skills. In addition, the administrator should have familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Excel.

Overview

The general process for setting up an Oracle Spatial environment for Bentley OpenUtilities Designer is outlined by the following steps:

  1. Create the Oracle Spatial Schema:
    • Generate command, batch, and SQL scripts
    • Execute command scripts and batch scripts
  2. Configure the XFM Schema
    • GSA and Register Features
    • Configure the workspace
  3. Test the Oracle Spatial environment
